Our Mission

FoNAC’s vision is to be an integral part of developing a network of people, places, and partnerships working together to see a movement of God beginning among the 574 tribes of the United States and the 634 recognized First Nations governments or bands spread across Canada, then extending to the indigenous people around the globe!

Our Strategy

  • To raise the awareness of the spiritual needs of Native Americans and First Nations People.

  • To help potential partners understand Native culture and worldview.

  • To develop strong Native leaders by creating culturally relevant resources to aid in evangelism, discipleship, and mission development.

  • To network with individuals, churches, associations, state conventions, and other ministries to initiate partnerships.

  • To facilitate the planting of churches in areas with significant Native population in partnership with the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

OUR HEART

"This is indeed a God-sized task. Throughout our existence we have valued partnerships. Without them we would have been restricted in so many areas. Our vision is to see networks of healthy partnerships that realize the need to, first, understand the worldview of Native people versus trying to convert people to assimilate to their worldview; second, sharing the Gospel message through the heart language of the people; third, equipping and encouraging involvement instead of enabling dependency; and fourth, calling out indigenous leaders versus sending in temporary workers."

— Gary Hawkins, Executive Director
